When animal lover and BabyCat Founder Sam Mussomeli decided to surprise his future wife Megan with a gift, he took her to a kitten adoption site in his native Pittsburgh. They both immediately gravitated to the runt of a liter, a tuxedo cat they would adopt and name Alice. Well, Alice never grew and remained a runt into adulthood, earning the nickname BabyCat
Sam and Megan eventually migrated East and moved into their mini apartment on Battery Lane in Bethesda. Like many cats, Alice would hide for days on end in their small apartment, unless Sam was brewing. When Sam commandeered the kitchen to work on a new recipe, Alice would immediately take her place in the kitchen doorway and supervise Sam’s technique, his brews and choice of ingredients. Alice or BabyCat became the de facto supervisor of the brewery.
So, when Sam decided to open a brewery, he and Megan quickly determined that Alice would need to be a part of it, hence the name BabyCat Brewery
