Checkerspot Brewing Co. is gearing up for a metamorphosis.
The craft brewery’s owners announced this week that they plan to move Checkerspot’s taproom and production operations to a new address in 2023. The future brewery space, at 1421 Ridgely St., is only a few blocks away from the current one near M&T Bank Stadium.
“We really wanted to stay close by,” said co-owner and head brewer Judy Neff. “We love this area.”
Checkerspot Brewing — named for Maryland’s state insect, the Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly — opened at 1399 S. Sharp St. in 2018 and has since grown a following among neighbors in Pigtown and Federal Hill. The brewery also draws sports fans, who flock there for a craft brew during Ravens and Orioles games.
