MARYLAND BREWERIES PREPARE TO CELEBRATE “FEBREWARY”
2019 Marks the Fourth Anniversary of FeBREWary, Maryland Craft Beer Lover’s Month
(BALTIMORE, MD) – This February marks the fourth annual “FeBREWary.” A month-long observation of Maryland beer, FeBREWary is Maryland Craft Beer Lover’s Month. Breweries, retailers, and consumers throughout Maryland are invited to celebrate the growth and innovation of the state’s burgeoning brewing industry. FeBREWary kicks off with a statewide toast to the industry and select tappings of unique Cupid’s Curse brews on Friday, February 1, 2019. The Governor will make a formal declaration of Maryland Craft Beer Lover’s Month on February 6, 2019.
Governor Larry Hogan embraces this statewide celebration sharing, “Maryland’s brewing industry is a diverse community celebrating local agriculture and innovation, and FeBREWary is the perfect time to raise a glass to the great quality beers being produced right here.”
The Brewers Association of Maryland will host FeBREWary’s main beer tasting event, Love Thy Beer, on February 15 at the Silver Spring Civic Center. Featuring more than two dozen breweries, this event showcases beer styles that are suitable for winter sipping and provides attendees the opportunity to vote on the year’s best Cupid’s Curse release. Passes to this year’s Love Thy Beer event are currently available for purchase through the Brewers Association of Maryland’s website.
“Love Thy Beer gives Brewers Association of Maryland members an opportunity to celebrate FeBREWary together and with the enthusiasts of our industry,” says Kevin Atticks, Executive Director of the Brewers Association of Maryland.
Breweries also celebrate FeBREWary by releasing limited-edition beers, offering products brewed in collaboration with other local breweries, and hosting special events in their tasting rooms and restaurants. This is a great time of year for enthusiasts of beer to explore Maryland’s brewing culture. Planning trips to the state’s unique brewing regions offers beer fans a chance to experience all that Maryland’s breweries have to offer.
According to 2017 data, Maryland’s brewing industry represents more than $826M in economic impact. The Brewers Association of Maryland hopes to engage the state’s beer enthusiasts and educate them about the status of regulation and legislation.
