Members of the Brewers Association of Maryland to release a collection of one-off beers, raise funds for the state’s craft beer trade association
(ANNAPOLIS, MD) – Breweries throughout Maryland are uniting to “Brew for BAM (Brewers Association of Maryland).” Each participating brewery is brewing a beer showcasing their brand’s unique approach to crafting recipes. Originally an idea from Mike Clements of Frederick’s Idiom Brewing Company, Brew for BAM has grown into an industry-wide effort that will raise funds to support the work of the state’s non-profit craft beer trade association.
“Following COVID-19, we saw that BAM was going lose a substantial amount of annual revenue from canceled consumer events,” said Clements. “We thought we’d help to soften the blow by brewing a wonderful beer and contributing a portion of the proceeds to the work being done by the Brewers Association of Maryland. A lot of people know about BAM’s events but we’d like beer drinkers to know how much the association does behind the scenes.”
There are currently eight Maryland breweries scheduled to release Brew for BAM beers. Expected on tap on Saturday, July 4, 2020, the team at Mully’s is excited to release the first Brew for BAM beer, an amber ale, and to get momentum behind this fundraiser.
“We wanted to participate in the Brew for BAM fundraiser because we directly benefit from the association’s dedication to promoting our industry and the work it does to advocate for our economic success,” says Cindy Mullikin, co-owner at Mully’s Brewery and former president of BAM.
Breweries currently participating in the Brew for BAM collaborative fundraiser include 1812 Brewery (Cumberland), Full Tilt Brewing (Baltimore), Hysteria Brewing Company (Columbia), Idiom Brewing Company (Frederick), Mully’s Brewery (Prince Frederick), Olde Mother Brewing Co. (Frederick), True Respite Brewing Company (Derwood), and Waredaca Brewing Company (Gaithersburg) and Clements expects additional breweries to sign on. Each brewery’s recipe and release date will be determined by that participating brewery.
President of the Brewers Association of Maryland and General Manager at Milkhouse Brewery, Sarah Healey, said, “On behalf of BAM and our board, we are humbled that our members continue to find ways to contribute to their association, even in the most trying times.”
