Now Showing: Season 1 of Next Exit, Untappd’s New Beer and Travel Show
Charlotte, North Carolina: For the past twelve years, popular beer app Untappd has helped craft beer fans find the best places to drink, explore what their friends are drinking, and discover new beers. Last year, Untappd continued their commitment to discovery with Next Exit, a YouTube-based beer and travel show.
Interesting places, cool people, and cold beer. That’s the premise behind Next Exit, hosted by beer writer and Hop Culture Magazine founder Kenny Gould. If you loved Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown or Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives you’ll want to catch Next Exit. In the show’s pilot episode, released last fall, Gould ventured into his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, to drink $4 cocktails at renowned watering hole Kelly’s Bar and Lounge, get an exclusive tour of Pittsburgh Brewing Co.’s facilities, and chow down on authentic Szechuan cuisine with Day Bracey, founder of the nation’s first black beer festival.
“For years, all of the most interesting food and beverage shows have focused on food,” says Gould. “In creating Next Exit, we explicitly wanted to explore drinking culture.” This September, Next Exit returns with four new episodes showcasing Baltimore, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Cincinnati, respectively. Episodes will be released each Tuesday starting on September 13, 2022, with a tour of Baltimore. Gould visits with Checkerspot Brewing, Sagamore Spirits, Mobtown Brewing, and Heavy Seas Beer – all while being guided around town by presenting partner City Brew Tours.
Later in this season, viewers join Gould as he pays homage to revered Other Half in Brooklyn, visits acclaimed Monk’s Cafe in Philadelphia, and delves into the historic, 100-year-old lager caves beneath Cincinnati. Gould says he’s waiting on announcing any plans for Season Two before this one airs.
“After we released the pilot episode, we heard from thousands of people telling us about their favorite bar in Athens or their favorite brewery in Oslo,” says Gould. “If you’ve got a cool place, or a favorite drinking city, we want to hear about it. That’s how we find all our most interesting places.”
