(BALTIMORE, MD) – The Brewers Association of Maryland (BAM) is pleased to unveil a new brand identity, reflecting the unity and strength of its members and their growing industry. Following a request for proposals issued earlier this year, BAM’s executive board selected a branding proposal presented by Gilah Press + Design of Baltimore, MD.
“We received great submissions from talented firms in the Mid-Atlantic,” says Jim Bauckman, Communications Manager at the Brewers Association of Maryland. “Gilah exhibited excellent vision, industry experience, and enough local flair to resonate well with our team and the association’s board.”
Why Does The Brewers Association of Maryland Need a New Brand?
For twenty three years the Brewers Association of Maryland has represented the industry with a visual identity primarily featuring Maryland’s state flag. As the brewing industry steadily expands throughout the country, contemporary and well-executed artwork has become synonymous with beer. It is imperative that the trade association representing Maryland’s breweries welcome this progress while respecting its roots.
Working with Gilah Press + Design to develop this new brand identity involved concept development, review, and feedback, resulting in a timeless and engaging brand and logo. BAM’s new branding package specifically focuses on presenting the identity of the association to the state’s breweries and beer consumers.
Identifying the Brewers Association of Maryland
Rebranding the Brewers Association of Maryland began with identifying the priorities of the association and its members. Among the priorities for the association’s new brand were the concepts of quality, unity, strength of the industry, and the historic tie to Maryland agriculture. This logo is a shaped, vertical banner, featuring authoritative elements and bold color scheme.
“The new brand represents BAM’s command on the promotion and protection of Maryland beer. Shapes reminiscent of agricultural fields signify the importance of farming to the brewing industry while also speaking to the unification of breweries that come together to establish BAM. The typography is a hallmark of the industrial revolution which speak to BAM’s dedication to quality, strength and history,” says Kat Feuerstein, Owner of Gilah Press + Design.
The Meaning to the State’s Breweries and Consumers
Including materials to use on its website, social media, and printed collateral, BAM’s new brand identity strengthens the perception of the association among breweries and consumers, alike.
“We are a strong, united, diverse industry, and the identity represents who we are and where we’re headed,” says Cindy Mullikin, President of the Brewers Association of Maryland and co-founder of Mully’s Brewery.
