Tagged: FDA inspections
Two breweries have reported inspections by FDA over the last week, so we wanted to remind members about their jurisdiction and interests. Because breweries use food ingredients, they’re considered “food processors” under the 2011 Food Safety Modernization Act and must register with the FDA every two years. The FDA is most concerned about general manufacturing practices (see a primer on BrewersAssociation.org). They have a inspections priority list for producers/processors who sell 1) across state lines, and 2) over $1 million in revenue annually.
If FDA arrives and you’d like to review your rights, please call BAM: 410-252-9463 and ask for Kevin Atticks or Janna Howley. Please report inspections to BAM so we can monitor for trends/frequency.
