November 29, 2016 at 5:47 pm #1298Jim BauckmanModeratorHello BAM Members,We are very excited that FeBREWary is just around the corner! As a reminder, this annual event—supported by the Governor of Maryland through a formal declaration—is in its second year. We will be toasting FeBREWary, along with the Governor, in early February in Annapolis; we will keep you posted on the exact date! With the strong support of the State behind this initiative, we want to make sure that this month is filled to the brim with activity! We ask that your brewery participate by creating a special beer, and hosting an event (or a few!), to celebrate. So that BAM, and the Office of Tourism, can properly promote your beer and/or event(s) we need to know by December 10th what you have planned. We’ve come up with some ideas to get you started. Use this Google Doc to fill in your event, date, time, and location We will work with everyone to have each event posted on our website and social media platforms for marketing.Ideas for FeBREWary:•Special edition brew (“Cupid’s Curse” – see below)•Host a date night. Prepare a special meal that pairs with your brews.•Game night! Its chilly in February so host indoor games such as Giant Jenga, Giant Connect Four, Ping Pong, Bear Pong, etc.•Host a movie night. Throwbacks or current.•Cook Off! Chili, soup, pie, recipe with beer, etc.•Host a trivia night/family feud.•Beer infused foods! Have a tasting of recipes including your brews.•Craft night. Paint night, plant night (look it up…it’s a thing), etc.•Host a bonfire with a s’mores station.•Silent auction for a good cause.•Have a party! Invite a band and food trucks and show off your featured brew.Love Thy BeerWe are again planning the signature event – Love Thy Beer – for mid-February, at the Silver Spring Civic Center. This event is a winter warmer showcase for Maryland Beer. We will have more details soon to follow.“Cupid’s Curse”New this year! We would love to have each brewery brew a unique beer, a “Cupid’s Curse”. Each beer will be called Cupid’s Curse, but every recipe will be unique. We want to celebrate the individual creativity of Maryland brewers by having everyone brew a Cupid’s Curse to be poured on the same date, at the same time, across the state (and then be available for the rest of the month). The overall theme, “Cupid’s Curse”, doesn’t limit what you can brew, so get creative! Put together a “love potion”, include an aphrodisiac, etc. If you can think of it, you can brew it!•The first rule of Cupid’s Curse is: You do not talk about Cupid’s Curse.•The second rule of Cupid’s Curse is: You do not talk about Cupid’s Curse. While we highly encourage marketing the release of your Cupid’s Curse beer, the recipes should remain a complete secret until the release; that way it will gain lots of buzz and excitement! If you’re participating in the Love Thy Beer event, we ask that you please bring your Cupid’s Curse to be poured during the VIP hour.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nlbVUmtUtWoWsslOwKLq0LkfKfc5T67jzRHn8yAyoO8/edit?usp=sharing–If you have any questions regarding FeBREWary please email Callie at callie@growandforitfy.com
